The Jerome Classic, one of the biggest track and field events in Canada, is undergoing an exciting new partnership between two non-profits, the Vancouver International Marathon Society RUNVAN® and the Achilles International Track and Field Society.

Known for hosting the best running events in Canada, RUNVAN® is excited to elevate the Jerome Classic to new heights while preserving the meet’s legendary history. The team is partnering with the event’s original founders and volunteers moving forward.

The Jerome Classic was initially created by the Achilles Society beginning in 1964 as a build-up and preview of the Tokyo Olympics. Since then, the event has been a cornerstone of Canada’s athletic landscape. The Jerome Classic is affectionately named after iconic Olympian Harry Jerome for his outstanding athletic performances, and for his post competitive role supporting youth sports in the community.

The Jerome Classic is where speed reigns and strength launches athletes into motion, hosting legendary Olympic athletes such as Damien Warner, Andre de Grasse, Camryn Rogers, Melissa Bishop, Evan Dunfee and others. The event also hosts a youth relay race annually.

RUNVAN® and the Achilles Society are proud to continue supporting Canadian athletes including current and future Olympians, while also inspiring the next generation. This year’s event will be part of Athletics Canada National Track and Field Tour, as well as the World Athletics Continental Tour.

Set to take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC, the addition of the Jerome Classic to the RUNVAN® event series, expands on RUNVAN®’s mission to invite the world to experience the Province through premiere athletic events.

As part of the partnership, RUNVAN® will leverage its extensive network and resources to enhance the overall event experience for all athletes, spectators, and volunteers alike.
