Justyn Knight won the 2 mile event in New York last Saturday to lead a strong Canadian presence at the World Athletics Indoor Tour 's New Balance Indoor Grand Prix with almost a new Canadian record with his 4:13.92 victory. Kieran Lumb got his personal best with 8:22.03 for 4th in that same race.
Marco Arop narrowly lost by 0.83 seconds to American, Bryce Hoppel's North American record of 2:16.27 in the 1000m.
Julie Anne Staehli set a Canadian best record with her bronze medal effort in the 2 mile of 9:22.66 behind Elle Purrrier American record of 9:10.28. Lindsey Butterworth opened her indoor season with 2:03.91 in the 800m.
