NTF TOUR Leader, Olympian Dusho ITSEKIRI of Nigeria heads to JEROME CLASSIC on June 14

The 2022 NTF Tour completed the Bob Vigars Classic, the 3rd competition of 11 meet Canadian series this past Sunday, with new leaders in the top ten rankings.

Dusho ITSEKIRI of Nigeria ran a superb 100m  in London, Ontario Sunday, besting Canadian Olympian sprinter, Bolade AJOMALE of Richmond Hill with a sparkling time of 10.20 seconds. The Olympian, from Sapele, Nigeria is in graduate student at the University of Regina. He won the 60m sprint at the USPORT Championships this winter and hopes to be selected for the Nigerian team to the World Athletic Championship in Eugene, Oregon. Dusho is headed to the Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic on June 14th.

Sarah MITTON of Brooklyn, NS threw 19.37m in the shot put to best fellow Olympian, Brittany CREW of Toronto. Sarah just broke the Canadian record this May with her throw of 19.58m in Hamilton, Ontario. She seems an absolute certainty to be a Canadian front liner at the World Athletic Championships in Eugene.

This past January, Athletics Canada announced the creation of the 2022 National Track and Field Tour which would kick off with an eleven track and field series, all in Canada leading to the World Athletics Championships starting on July 15th in Eugene, Oregon.  This creates a wide opportunity for Canadian athletes to compete on home soil, in their own backyard.  In the past many Canadian athletes sought high level competition south of the border.  Now the dreams of the athletes can be realized with a “WE THE NORTH” attitude.
